We are a powerful force to be reckoned with, and don't anyone forget it. This morning, thousands took to the streets for the Women's March on Washington, including America Ferrera. The actress, who has been extremely active with political rallies in the country and was chair of the Artists' Committee for the Women's March, delivered a powerful speech to the nation on Saturday, where she condemned newly sworn president, Donald Trump.
"It's been a heartrending time to be both a woman and an immigrant in this country," the first-generation Honduran said. "Our dignity, our character, our rights, have all been under attack. And a platform of hate and division assumed power yesterday. But the president is not America. His cabinet is not America. Congress is not America. We are America! And we are here to stay."
Ferrera continued powerfully stating that we march for the "moral core of this nation, against which our new president is waging a war." She noted that Trump has pushed "a credo of hate, fear and suspicion of one another."
The Superstore star became an ambassador for the march, and in the days leading up to it, explained why it was so vital. "Since the election, so many fear that their voices will go unheard. As artists, women, and, most importantly, dedicated Americans, it is critical that we stand together in solidarity for the protection, dignity and rights of our communities," she said.
